Product Information

a Seven part Block of the month project using redwork stitchery, simple piecing and foundation piecing. Patterns include iron on transfers, Black and white lightbox copies of designs and foundation papers. Shop notes are available as below.

Note: that depending on cutting by customers this should be enough to piece backing fabric for their quilt also. This ‘extra’ also allows for miscuts common in foundation piecing.

Block of the month program with fabric kits.
Kitting notes: measurements given below are exact where cutting does not need to be accurate. If accuracy is important measurements have been rounded up by ¼” – ½” – not much so please cut your fabrics as accurately as you can or you may wish to be more generous.
 
Month 1:

Background fabric:
Cut one strip x width, cross cut to two strips 3” x 21” – one per kit
Cut one strip 9” x width, cross cut to three strips 9” x 12” – one per kit Pellon:
Cut one strip 3” x width, cross cut one 21” piece (keep leftover for month 4)
Cut one strip 9” x width, cross three 9” x 12” pieces – one per kit
 
Optional – DMC thread, Crewel needle
 
Month 2:

Cut one strip 6” x width, cross cut 22” piece (keep leftover for month 3)
Pellon:
Cut one strip 6” x width, cross cut into four 6” x 9” strips – one per kit
Cut one strip 13” x width, cross cut into 9 strips 3” x 13” – one per kit

Use the leftover piece from Month 2 (6” x 20”)
Pellon:
Cut one strip 5” x width, cross cut into four 5” x 9” pieces – one per kit

Cut one strip 3” x width, cross cut four10” pieces – one per kit

Dark fabric one:
Cut one strip 3” x width, cross cut one 3” square per kit (you can cross cut 14 squares if making many kits or keep the rest of your strip for next month)
 
Dark fabric two:
Cut one strip 3” x width, cross cut one 3” square per kit (you can cross cut 14 squares if making many kits or keep the rest of your strip for next month)
 
Dark fabric three:
Cut one strip 3 ½” x width, cross cut into six 7” pieces – one per kit
Dark fabric four:
Cut one strip 3 ½” x width, cross cut into six 7” pieces – one per kit
 
Pellon:
Cut one strip 9” x width, cross cut into four 9” squares – one per kit 
 
Month 6:

cut one strip 25” x width, cross cut into four 10” x 25” strips – one per kit
 
From five light fabrics cut
One strip of each 2” x width, cross cut into two 2” x 21” strips – one of each (five total) per kit
 
From five dark fabrics cut: (note that the exact measurement for these strips is 1 ½” wide so you can use your leftover 3” strips from last month if you wish to cut down accurately to 1 ½” each)
One strip of each 2” x width, cross cut into two 2” x 21” strips – one of each (five total) per kit
Pellon:
Cut one strip 25” x width, cross cut into four pieces 9” x 25” – one per kit
 
Month 7:

One strip 17” x width, crosscut into eight 5” x 17” pieces – one per kit
Pellon:
Cut one strip 17” x width, crosscut into seven 5” x 17” pieces – one per kit
From five light fabrics cut:
One strip each 2” x width, cross cut into two 2” x 21” strips (10 strips total)
From two of the light fabrics:
Cut another 2” strip x width, crosscut into two 2” x 21” strips (4 strips in total) - 13 strips per kit.
 
From five dark fabrics cut:
One strip each 2” x width, cross cut into two 2” x 21” strips (10 strips total)
From two of the dark fabrics:
Cut another 2” strip x width, crosscut into two 2” x 21” strips (4 strips in total) - 13 strips per kit.
  
More notes on fabric choice:
 
I have used small scale prints with just red and white tones. Some read as red fabrics and some read as white fabrics (ie dark and light). You can choose any tone on tone or small scale prints which read a ‘colour’. There are many red and white ranges available even just spots and stripes that will work. Alternatively choose a different colour range completely, make a sample and it will sell.
